Behrad Gharedaghloo, PhD, EIT – Postdoctoral Scientist
Dr. Gharedaghloo is a postdoctoral scientist at Aquanty Inc. His primary specialization is numerical modelling of flow and transport processes in porous media. He received his B.Sc. (2010) in Petroleum Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, and his M.Sc. (2012) in Petroleum (Reservoir) Engineering from the University of Tehran. As a reservoir engineer and modeller (2011-2014, Tehran), he collaborated on field-scale simulations of subsurface oil and gas reservoirs, and on the preparation of reservoir development plans. During his PhD (2018) at the University of Waterloo, Behrad studied the transport of Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (NAPLs) and dissolved organic contaminants in peat soils and peatlands, as well as micro-scale to field-scale phenomena that control the transport of contaminants within mineral and organic aquifers. Behrad’s focus at Aquanty is modelling the hydrological behavior of boreal peatlands and surface/subsurface interaction in these landmarks, and upscaling their flow and transport properties. Behrad’s research interests are multiphase flow and transport through single porosity and dual-porosity aquifers, micro-scale characterization of porous material, and numerical simulations of physical and chemical phenomena in groundwater systems.
