Postdoc opportunity in quantitative hydrologic science

Aquanty is an international hydrologic sciences company that provides cutting edge hydrological modelling services and software to a broad base of government, academic, and industrial sectors. Among a number of analytical and numerical models within the Aquanty portfolio, our flagship platform, HydroGeoSphere™, is a class leader in fully-integrated three-dimensional surface/subsurface modeling. Aquanty’s scientists are the principal developers of HydroGeoSphere™ and are recognized as leading experts in integrated climate/surface/subsurface modelling, as well as the development of custom, very advanced, numerical models. Aquanty was founded by the key developers of HydroGeoSphere™ in 2012 and is located in North Waterloo, approximately 2 km from the main University of Waterloo campus. Due to an increasing need for scientific development to support a number of large scale modelling initiatives, Aquanty has an upcoming opportunity for a postdoctoral scientist.

 Postdoc position

The successful candidate for this position will spearhead the development of a scientific basis for utilizing physics based integrated models in conjunction with high performance computing and ‘big-data’ resources for basin scale hydrologic flood risk, and land use change applications. It is expected that applicants will have had some hands on exposure to numerical modelling and will have strong quantitative and statistical skills, and a record of published peer-reviewed literature would be considered and asset. Because the applicant will be required to participate in a funding application to the Ontario Centers of Excellence, preference will be given to Canadian citizens; however, the position is not contingent on any funding awards. Above average remuneration and benefits will be offered to the successful candidate.

In addition to the specific research project described above, the postdoctoral scientist will have the opportunity to engage with other exciting projects that are underway at Aquanty; and as a result, will gain experience with a wide array of integrated hydrologic modelling applications. Furthermore, because Aquanty is focused on pushing the scientific limits of hydrologic modelling, there is strong recognition and support for publishing and academic interaction.
