SCAS Conference: Canada1Water framework for national scale hydrological modelling

Eric Kessel, M.Sc, P.Geo. - Hydrogeologist

Join Aquanty’s Eric Kessel at the upcoming conference of the Society of Canadian Aquatic Sciences annual conference! SCAS is a society created by the Canadian Conference for Fisheries Research (CCFFR) and the Society of Canadian Limnologists (SCL) and is Canada’s leading scientific society for the excellence, integration and dissemination of expert knowledge in fisheries, limnology and aquatic sciences.

Eric will be attending the SCAS conference as part of our ongoing communications and outreach efforts for Canada1Water - our ambitious project to evaluate climate change impacts on ground/surface water sustainability across all of Canada at the continental scale, and to place water resources modelling and decision support tools in reach of all Canadians. Don’t miss Eric’s presentation!

Presentation date/time: Friday Feb 25th, 10:30-10:45am

Session: Climate change (RS4)

Location: Drummond Center, 3rd flood

Canada1Water framework for national scale hydrological modelling

Abstract:

Canada1Water (C1W) is constructing physically-based fully-integrated groundwater – surface water (GW – SW) models with complete coverage of continental Canada. These state-of-the-art models will be coupled with regional climate modeling to simulate an ensemble of climate change scenarios in major drainage regions to better understand GW – SW resource sustainability. Such modeling requires homogenized national-scale datasets, most of which do not exist in usable formats and must be first be built. Here, we highlight several key datasets that are the foundation of the C1W models in HydroGeoSphere©. These future model predictions will be useful to a broad range of water-related scientists and decision makers across Canada.
