Explore the Future of Flood Forecasting and Watershed Resilience in Ontario
Join us for the Ontario Water Consortium Fall Innovation Showcase: Forecasting a Changing Climate: AI, Flood Resilience and the Future of Ontario’s Watersheds, a multidisciplinary panel exploring how artificial intelligence, advanced forecasting technologies, and operational expertise are shaping the future of flood resilience and watershed management.
DATE: Wednesday, October 14th, 2026
TIME: 12:00pm - 1:00pm EST
This session will bring together perspectives from technology development, conservation authorities, academia, and water management to examine how AI, real-time monitoring, physical models, and operational expertise can support more timely, reliable, and actionable flood forecasting in a changing climate.
Aquanty’s Dr. Andre R. Erler, Senior Climate Scientist, will participate in the panel and share insights into HydroSphereAI, Aquanty’s machine learning-based hydrological forecasting platform and how advances in AI-driven forecasting can be translated into practical tools for real-world watershed management and climate resilience.
PRESENTERS:
Dr. Andre R. Erler — Senior Climate Scientist, Aquanty
Angela Coleman — General Manager, Conservation Ontario
Jeff Winzenried — Flood Forecasting Supervisor, Maitland Valley Conservation Authority
Dr. Reza Najafi — Professor, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Western University
Together, the panelists will explore how emerging forecasting technologies are being integrated into practice, including the opportunities and challenges associated with operational deployment within Conservation Authority workflows.
The discussion will highlight how platforms such as HydroSphereAI, combined with real-time observations, physical modelling, and the experience of water management professionals, can help improve forecasting confidence, strengthen flood preparedness, and support more resilient decision-making across Ontario’s watersheds.
